The Isac Galvez sport hall in Vilanova i la Geltrù opened its doors to the twelve teams involved in both Intercontinental Cup and World Championship in which the rink hockey U19 World Roller Games are divided.
Rather unusually, the first match day offered two of the more interesting games of the whole first phase; two games that will probably determine the winner of each pool. Argentina and Portugal are the winner of these amazing games. The south american team played an extraordinary game against Spain, in front of more than 1.000 spectators, beating 4-3 the host team that was the favourite one. Portugal, which is the reigning champion (and winner of the title during three editions) won 2-1 against Italy, resisting in the last minute against the attaks of the Italian team seeking for the draw.
After these two games, is common opinion that any of these four teams can play for the title until the last game.
Leading the pool A with Portugal there's Colombia after a stunning victory with USA. In pool B, Argentina leads with Chile against wich will play during the second match day.
In the first games of the Intercontinental Cup, Andorra won a balanced game against Great Britain, while Mozambique clearly prevailed with India.
