The World Championship returns after a one-year stop due to the pandemic. It will be a special one where the best athletes of the world will return to race each other and give us their best show.

The host city will be Ibagué, AKA “The Music Capital of Colombia”, where the skating venues are ideal for the high level competitions. Track races will start November 6th, then we will move to the road circuit the 10th and the marathon will close the event on the 13th.

Forty countries are participating at the event and their National Teams are already heading to Colombia to refine all the details.

Gabriela Rueda and Pijao are the protagonist of our image cover. Gabriela is a well-known skater who has been selected to be the face of the 2021 World Championships thanks to her perseverance, her work, and her commitment which best represent the values that speed skating wants to transmit to the sports world. Pijao is a very traditional animal from the interior departments of Colombia, representing the diversity of fauna of the country.
